Principal's Message

South South Salmara College stands by 33 years and i am very pleasure that our mission has been succeeded by getting this institution of Higher Education in provincialised stage. The month of December,1986,the people with leading persons gathered and formed a sponsoring body for establishing a Arts Degree College which was named South Samara College. The body of the college laboured for procuring requisite lands and funds by public donations of the area. As a result 45 bighas lands were donated by the people and the college was started. Then the sponsoring body advertised for appointing a permanent principal and teachers. A teachers including me as Principal were appointed on the day of 8th August, 1988, the historical day of the college. In the year of establishment 57 No. of students were admitted to our college and since then huge number of students were educated from this college and serving the society. Since entire this region is erosion prone, the river Brahmaputra eroded its campus twice in the year 1993 and 1999 respectfully. Although we had been facing lots of economical barriers and lack of suitable lands for this premier institution, we had to able to get permanent affiliation from Gauhati University in the year 2010-11.Govt of Assam has taken over the college in the provincialised stage with Arts stream only. In this co-educational institution running in the place nearby Phulbari, Meghalaya in the one site and the river Brahmaputra in the other site. Naga Bandh Road has connected to the College with PWD Road of Meghalaya at Phulbari.

This co-educational institution is presently running well with Arts stream only. We have demanded to introduce Science stream of TDC level to the State Govt. so that we can provide a better Higher Education in this area in near future

Located on the bank of Brahmaputra, the College is surrounded with charming river side view and natural beauty of Garo Hills which attracts the students most and the visitors too. The College is well connected with the surrounding areas through road transport as well as water transport.

In the last we grateful to the personalities of the area who had severed this college in the initial stage, they were Dewan Joynal Abedin,Ex-MLA,Founder President, Abdus Sakur Mazumdar, Abdul Bosir Mollah, Mvi.Abu Jafor Akond, Wazed Ali Choudhury, MLA and many more.
